Meet our Summer Camp Coaches – Soccerdome (Webster Groves)

With summer camp just around the corner, we’re taking the opportunity to introduce our summer camp staff. We have a large cast of amazing coaches who work with the kids at our camps around the St. Louis metro area. We’ve introduced you to our summer camp staff at our Concord (South County) and Manchester (West County) locations. Now, we’d like to introduce you to our staff at the Soccerdome in Webster Groves.

Corey Huck – Youth Program Director

Coach Corey Huck, aka Chuck, has worked for Vetta Sports since 2009. “I love to make memorable moments that I was able to when I was a kid,” Corey says of his favorite part of camp. Corey started playing soccer 2009 and has played in soccer leagues at Vetta all of his life (literally.) His favorite soccer memories include building friendships that he still has today. In his spare time he enjoys watching the Cardinals and Blues from the best balcony seats and he is inspired by Dani DiCarlo (Camp Director from St. Charles). Corey is passionate about the work that I do each and everyday and the best meal he has ever had was Kitaro Hibachi. Corey loves anywhere with a beach and if he could visit anywhere in the world, it would be Italy. He loves enjoying holidays with his family and the best concert he has attended was Hootie & The Blowfish.

He believes every child deserves to grow up having fun playing sports!

Best advice Corey has ever been given- Anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing.

Coach Marissa – Adult League Manager

Coach Marissa Herbert has worked for Vetta Sports since 2006. Marissa started playing soccer when she was 4 years old and started coaching in 8th grade. Her favorite soccer memory includes watching the US Women’s team play live in Kansas City in 1999 and favorite soccer player is Mia Hamm. Marissa’s favorite thing about Summer camp is the kids!

Best Advice Marissa has been given – You will never know if your decision is right or wrong if you do not make a decision. That is the only way you will learn.

Coach Ryan – Summer Camp Operations Manager

Coach Ryan, aka Mack, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2014 and started playing at Vetta when we had basketball! Ryan’s favorite part of summer camp is field trips. Ryan started playing soccer when he was in 2nd Grade and his favorite sports memory includes Winning the 2009 Class 5 Missouri High School Football State Championship. Ryan Mack loves helping others build confidence, learn, and realize their potential. When asked why he coaches children, Ryan Mack says: “I started coaching in order to positively impact lives.”

Best Advice Ryan Mack has been given – Do not take advice from anyone!

Coach Andrew

Coach Andrew, aka Bristow, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2015 and was a camper for many years at Vetta! Andrew’s favorite part of summer camp is Movie day!

Andrew’s favorite sports memory includes playing in his first varsity football game. Andrew is passionate about Human Rights. His favorite family tradition is Passover. If Andrew could go anywhere on Earth it would be Berlin because he loves Germany.

Coach Daniel

Coach Daniel, aka Danny, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2016 and has played at Vetta since middle school! Coach Danny is looking forward to the field trips and teaching kids how to play soccer. His number one passion is soccer and his favorite soccer player is Ronaldinho. He coaches because, I love the game and want children to develop the same love I have for it. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his friends and his favorite family traditions include going to Bull Shoals lake.

Best advice Daniel has ever been given – Never give up.

Coach Emma

Coach Emma has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2013. Her favorite part of summer camp includes coaching a team to a championship win in the world cup tournaments… Emma started playing soccer in 2013 and her favorite sports memory is hitting her first homerun. She played in the indoor youth league at Vetta as a kid. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to fun new places! Emma is passionate about teaching kids to lead a physical active lifestyle and have fun while doing it! The best concert she ever attended was Backstreet Boys.

Best advice Emma has ever been given – There is no such thing as a boring activity, only boring people.

Coach Erik

Coach Erik has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2015 and started playing at Vetta in high school. Taylor’s favorite part of summer camp is playing soccer with the kids. Erik started playing soccer when he was seven years old and his favorite soccer memory is when I kept a team that won 8-0 the night before to only 1-0. When asked why he coaches children, Erik says: “To teach kids the game I love” The best concert he has ever attended is Future and Migos.

Best advice Erik has been given – Don’t stop chasing your dreams.

Coach Darby

Coach Darby has worked for Vetta Sports since 2015. Her favorite part of summer camp is PIZZA DAY! Darby s favorite soccer memory was the USA Women’s 2011 World Cup game vs Brazil and her favorite soccer player is Tobin Heath – she has some of the best foot skills in women’s soccer. Darby’s passionate about traveling and once even hiked down the Grand Canyon.

Best advice Darby s has ever been given- Be yourself.

Coach Gabrielle

Coach Gabrielle, aka Gabi, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2014 and started playing at Vetta as a camper! Gabrielle’s favorite part of summer camp is World Cup! Gabrielle started playing soccer when she was elementary school and her favorite soccer memory includes playing soccer and basketball with my sister in their backyard. Her favorite soccer player is Sergio Ramos because he makes incredible goals. Gabrielle loves family, friends, sports, and MIZZOU! Her favorite family tradition is watching March Madness. Gabrielle’s favorite place in the world is New Smyrna Beach, and if she could go anywhere on Earth it would be Australia. When asked why she coaches children, Gabrielle says: “I started working with kids because they make my day brighter! The campers are always making me laugh. I have always loved Vetta even when I was a kid and I love that my job is so fun!” The best concert she has ever attended is The Cheetah Girls. Not many people know Gabi paints.

Best Advice Gabrielle has been given – Wherever you are, be there completely.

Coach Katherine

Coach Katherine has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2017 and started playing at Vetta when she was younger. Katherine’s favorite part of summer camp are all the exciting field trips. Katherine started playing soccer when she was in Kindergarten and her favorite sports memory is swimming in a relay with my sister at State.

Her favorite soccer player is Messi because he is short like Katherine and humble. Katherine loves treating others with kindness. Her favorite family tradition is watching The Polar Express on Christmas Eve. Katherine’s favorite place in the world is Huntington Beach, California, and if she could go anywhere on Earth it would be Hawaii. When asked why she coaches children, Katherine says: “Kids are energetic and funny and I like watching them learn new things.” The best concert she has ever attended is Hozier. Something no one knows about you? I can play the Ukulele.

Best Advice Katherine has been given – Trust yourself.

Coach Katie

Coach Katie has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2013. Katie’s favorite part of summer camp is coming back and seeing how much the campers have learned and grown since last summer. Katie started playing soccer in Kindergarten and her favorite soccer memory is going to different cities to play in tournaments. Her favorite soccer player is Megan Rapinoe, as Katie thinks she is a very hardworking player and doesn t get a lot of credit for making plays happen. Katie loves teaching kids. If Katie could go anywhere on Earth it would be Portugal. When asked why she coaches children, Katie says: “I love soccer and I love kids, I m getting paid to have fun at my job.” The best concert she has ever attended is Outkast. Katie has a hidden talent of identifying rocks.

Best Advice Katie has been given – What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet.

Coach Lydia

Coach Lydia has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2017 and started playing soccer when she was 6. Lydia attended Summer Camp at Vetta Concord for several years and played indoor leagues leagues from 5th grade until even today! Her favorite soccer memory was her senior night game in high school. It was one of the best games I had played personally and the atmosphere was amazing because we actually had a crowd for the game. We also ended up winning the game by several points, so overall it was an awesome night. When asked why she started coaching, she answered, I started coaching soccer because I would like for kids to enjoy soccer as much as I do. Having a good coach makes playing soccer so much better than not having a good coach, so my goal is to be the best coach I can so kids can have fun learning and playing the sport.

Best Advice you’ve ever been given? You miss 100% of the shots you don t take, so just take it.

Coach Madeline

Coach Madeline, aka Maddie, has been with Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2016 and her favorite part of summer camp is playing with the kids. She first started playing soccer in Kindergarten and her favorite soccer memories include playing her favorite sport with her best friends since kindergarten. Maddie is passionate about dogs and the best concert she s ever been to was Katy Perry.

Best Advice Madeline has been given – Never give up on your dreams.

Coach Mikayla

Coach Mikayla, aka Mik, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2013 and started playing at Vetta from Kindergarten. Mikayla’s favorite part of summer camp is World Cup! Mikayla started playing soccer when she was Kindergarten and her favorite soccer memory is getting her first medal at state my sophomore year of high school. Mikayla loves swimming, school, and making every day the best that I can. Her favorite family tradition is watching the Polar Express on Christmas Eve. Mikayla’s favorite place in the world is Disneyland, and if she could go anywhere on Earth it would be Alaska, she wants to see the Northern Lights. When asked why she coaches children, Mikayla says: “Children are so carefree and positive, and I’ve always loved interacting with them. I’ve always had a passion for sports, so I decided to join the Vetta staff so I could combine two of my interests!” The best concert she has ever attended is Ed Sheeran. Many people may not know she can bend her fingers backwards and bend the top knuckles on her fingers.

Best Advice Mikayla has been given – In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived and enjoyed.

Coach Olivia

Coach Olivia, aka Liv, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2016 and started playing at Vetta in 5th Grade. Olivia’s favorite part of summer camp is the field trips! Olivia started playing soccer when she was in 1st Grade and her favorite soccer memory is going to Columbia for soccer tournaments and having Shakespeare s pizza with the team. Olivia loves her teammates. Her favorite family tradition is making christmas cookies with cousins each year. Olivia’s favorite place in the world is anywhere her dog is, and if she could go anywhere on Earth, it would be Mount Everest.

When asked why she coaches children, Olivia says: “Children are a hoot and a half and can almost always brighten your day.” The best concert she has ever attended is Prince Royce. A little know talent of Olivia’s is building with Legos.

Best Advice Olivia has been given – don t sweat the small stuff.

Coach Rachel

Coach Rachel has worked for Vetta Sports since 2017. She started playing at Vetta in third grade, and still plays, even now… she never stopped! When asked her favorite part of camp, she answers I love getting to know campers as the weeks progress and building good relationships with all of them through all of the fun games and activities we participate in every day. She is inspired by My dad inspires me. He has always been there for me and has taught me a lot about how to live life with compassion and grace. In Rachel s spare time she enjoys singing, fishing, hiking, and playing piano. When asked why she coaches, she says I love kids. They have such an infectious happiness that is really rare in people who have grown up, and I can t help but want to be a part of it.

Best Advice Rachel has been given – Someone who leads silently, without the titles or glory, can be just as effective and important, if not more.

Coach Sam 

Coach Sam has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2017. Sam started playing soccer when he was in Kindergarten and his favorite soccer memory is his junior year of high school, his team was down against SLUH and they got past their (Sam’s team’s) defense and then their goalie came out of the box. The ball was lofting into the net and Sam tried to do a goal line bike clearance and ended up missing the ball and getting his foot stuck in the net. They (Sam’s team) lost the game but it was funny, and a SLUH guy had to help him get my foot out of the net. His favorite soccer player is old: David Beckham because he gives himself to his community, he donates money and time to others and it makes him a good person not just a good player. His current favorite player is Graham Zusi because he works hard and does what is best for the team. Sam is super passionate about soccer and a strong work ethic and his favorite family tradition is super intense games of charades at family functions. If Sam could go anywhere on Earth it would be South Korea.

Best Advice Sam has been given – Work hard. You can t be upset about not getting something if the other guy worked harder than you.

Coach Taylor

Coach Taylor, aka Tay, has worked for Vetta Sports Soccerdome since 2016 and started playing at Vetta 10 years ago. Taylor’s favorite part of summer camp is Pizza and movie day, or going on the field trips. Taylor started playing soccer when she was in Kindergarten and her favorite soccer memory is winning districts my senior year of high school. Taylor loves soccer and doing well in school. When asked why she coaches children, Taylor says: “Because soccer is my life and I love children.” The best concert she has ever attended is The Chainsmokers.

Best Advice Taylor has been given – Don’t miss out on an opportunity just because you’re scared of the unknown.
